Why Morne Trois Pitons Was Chosen By UNESCO
UNESCO had declared Morne Trois Pitons as a World Heritage site because it has satisfied two of its natural criteria particularly criteria (viii) and (x). This means that the place is being recognized for the abundance of natural resources such as plants, waters and land forms.
Here are the criteria satisfied by Morne Troise Pitons:

to be outstanding examples representing major stages of earth’s history, including the record of life, significant on-going geological processes in the development of landforms, or significant geomorphic or physiographic features;

to contain the most important and significant natural habitats for in-situ conservation of biological diversity, including those containing threatened species of outstanding universal value from the point of view of science or conservation.
With a large amount of flora and fauna consisting of over 12 reptiles and amphibians, 50 birds and 12 crustaceans, it satisfies the 10th criteria. The presence of life forms along with the unique water and land forms which satisfies the 8th criteria make Morne Trois Pitons not only eligible but well deserved with the World Heritage site title.
